Slow cooked beans

We love our beans in this family, and these are probably the favorite. Classic, simple and tasty, the kids could eat the whole pot :) The only thing you need to do is soak them the night before and leave the rest for the slow cooker!

5 cups white navy beans- soaked in water overnight
6 cups water
1 can tomato paste
1/2 onion-minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp mustard powder
1 tsp molasses
1 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
2 1/2 tsp sea salt
freshly ground pepper

Add everything to a slow cooker except the salt- cook on high for 4-6 hours.
Season with salt once the beans are soft.

  1. I love a big pot of beans! These sound so simple and delicious. Yummy!

  2. Hey Kirsten! I love this recipe -- it's such a great meal to eat (esp. on cold days!) I shared this post with our fans on the Redpath Sugar Facebook Page.

We're also running a PIE contest, to have your pie recipe as a featured flavour at The Canadian Pie Company in Toronto. Check out more details on our facebook page:

  3. This makes me wish we had a slow cooker. I am not even sure if these exist in Germany. I gotta find out.

  4. Yum! My husband could devour this whole pot by himself--his favorite dish by far!
